Interviewing Tips
When you’re interviewing for a job, the little things can make a big difference.
Take the time to prepare so you can make the best possible impression at your interview. Here are some ways to prepare for your interview:
- Know specific information about the company. Explore our website to learn more about what we do, our products, our services and our core Values.
- Don’t be late for your interview. Plan ahead by making sure you have good directions. You should know exactly how long it will take to drive to your appointment. Take into account traffic flow for that time of day, construction detours, or anything else that could delay you.
- Dress well for success and be well groomed.
- Practice and prepare. Ask a friend to do a practice interview with the goal of improving your interview response technique and to help you build your confidence. Interviewers may ask you to elaborate on your accomplishments as well as pros and cons on your resume. Make sure that you are able to back up your strengths and accomplishments or 1 or 2 specific examples. Review your past performance evaluations to help you recall your accomplishments.
- Prepare a list of questions for discussion at the interview.
- Ensure that you listen to the questions being asked at the interview and respond to the specific question that is asked. Be specific and concise in answering the questions – Don’t go on too long!
- Be aware of your body language. Smile, look people in the eye, sit up straight and lean slightly forward. Engage with the interview panel – this is a conversation!
- Show your enthusiasm and let the interview panel know that you want the role.
