Celebrating International Literacy Day 2024

Saturday 14th September, 2024.

TRINRE Insurance remains deeply committed to the importance of promoting literacy as a fundamental human right that is crucial for progress and empowerment. This year’s International Literacy Day theme, “Promoting Multilingual Education: Literacy for Peace and Mutual Understanding,” highlighted the importance of embracing linguistic diversity to enhance communication and understanding across various cultures.

In today’s world, the ability to read, write, and comprehend information is more important than ever. The reality however is that there are approximately 754 million adults worldwide who cannot read or write.  In Trinidad and Tobago, there are reports by educators that some students continue to struggle with reading, writing and comprehension.

Recognizing the need to tackle literacy challenges among young people, TRINRE partnered with Moms for Literacy who work tirelessly to improve literacy skills in children at the primary and secondary school levels.  Additionally, we also provided support to the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) to host reading sessions for hundreds of primary school students in libraries across the country.

Mr. Vinai Narace, TRINRE’s Marketing and Customer Experience Manager stated, “TRINRE’s goal is to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn and thrive.   We will continue to invest in initiatives that promote literacy in the communities we serve, and to create a brighter future where everyone has the tools to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society.”

TRINRE’s Finance Manager, Mr. Kevin Matthews, makes a presentation to NALIS’ Marketing and Communications Manager, Ms. Debbie Goodman.
