TRINRE Insurance Sponsors Historic Derby Stakes and Steward’s Cup
TRINRE Insurance Company Limited happily gave the Arima Race Club the support it needed for the sponsorship of two prestigious races, the Steward’s Cup and the Trinidad Derby Stakes on Saturday 28th November, 2020.
The TRINRE Trinidad Derby, resulted in a historic Triple Crown win for Wise Guy, owned by Neil Poon Tip, John O’Brien, Roger Hadeed, and Gerry Harding of PT Racing Group. This was the first time in over a decade that a locally bred horse has claimed this spectacular victory.
The Stewards Cup was proudly won by Making Headlines, the second locally bred horse to win this race, owned by Ruthven Smith.
The sponsorship for these premiere races was also given last year in response to the Arima Race Club’s compelling vision to stimulate the sport through a transformation plan that is focused not only on financial results but also on job creation and retention, while simultaneously contributing to sustainable diversification of the economy. TRINRE’s Executive Chairman, Mrs. Rani Lakhan- Narace, stated “We recognize that the Arima Race Club deserves the opportunity to get back on track with their vision. As you know, the Derby Stakes and the Stewards Cup are the most prestigious races, and TRINRE’s support is our contribution to not only uphold this tradition but also more importantly, to assist with actually saving the horses, saving the many jobs of all the good people employed with the Race Club”
TRINRE, an indigenous CariA– Rated insurance company, hopes that their sponsorship will encourage other sponsors to join the Arima Race Club in their quest to revitalize their events.
