HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE
TRINRE was established in 1975 as a Reinsurance company by the Government of Trinidad &Tobago for the development of the local industry within Trinidad and Tobago. Some of the major contributions of the company were:
- Securing insurance placements for major industrial plants during construction e.g. the Iron & Steel Company of Trinidad & Tobago and the Mount Hope Medical Complex
- Securing placement of insurance for the Government of Trinidad & Tobago and associated state enterprises
- Functioning in an advisory role to the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Trinidad & Tobago in the areas of legislative and market conduct issues.
In 1994 the Government divested its shares in the company to private sector ownership and the organization entered the market as a “direct writing” general insurance company.

Having successfully transformed itself as a “direct writing” general insurer, in 2001 a new leadership philosophy and management team took responsibility for TRINRE. Since that time the company has continued on a growth path that has seen it becoming a robust, market driven player.
